Analysis of the Czech Philharmonic in terms of strategic communication

This thesis analyses strategic communication of the Czech Philharmonic. It provides an overview of the orchestra's historical developments with respect to changes of its chief conductors and describes its current internal and external communication strategy. The thesis examines internal communication within the Czech Philharmonic, subsequent integration of certain departments into its organizational structure and the way content is communicated to the public. It offers, therefore, a comprehensive insight into the internal and external communication of an institution of classical music. The methodology includes data collection through semi-structured in-depth interviews with executives of the Czech Philharmonic, as well as a marketing mix 4P. The research contains an analysis of three concert seasons in terms of dramaturgy and an analysis of the communication tools used by the Czech Philharmonic such as social networks, digital media and visual identity. A questionnaire survey examines how the use of communication tools impacts listeners' decisions, their perception of the way the Czech Philharmonic communicates and the impact on concert attendance. Musical Kitsch

Based on the theoretical studies of the aestheticians dealing with the issue of kitsch, this bachelor thesis entitled "Musical kitsch" focuses on the general characteristics of kitsch, the explanation of the key concepts related to its issues, and the subsequent application of the above-mentioned to music. However, not to music in general, but to classical music, which is generally considered high art, and in which the elements of kitsch are not expected. Kitsch takes its place in many artistic fields. Music education in kindergartens with a focus on listening activities

Listening activities in preschool education are, despite their vast potential, assessed more as additional activities. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the profundity of classical music in particular and thus motivate prospectively the teachers to include this genre into their educational activities more often and more elaborately. The theoretical part is focused on specifying the basis of music activities in the kindergarten, then it narro ws the survey of listening activities and defines teaching methods for them, beginning with a preparation and ending with an assessment. The practical part is based on theoretical knowledge and introduces three compact projects that aim at accomplishing th eir overlap into all the five teaching areas of the FEP for PE. It also comprises a partial research that investigates a level of listening activities in contemporary kindergartens.
Teaching English with Classical Music

This diploma thesis deals with using songs in English language teaching at lower secondary schools. The thesis comprises of two parts a theoretical and practical section. In the theoretical part I define the term music and its four basic elements. The teaching methodologies and song activities are also included in this part. The influence of classical music on students and its advantages and disadvantages are associated with the learning of English language. Based on these theoretical findings I prepared nine lesson plans with activities focussing on grammatical structures, vocabulary or comprehension of the lesson topic. The composer's biography and some brief information are outlined in the beginning of every chapter. Subsequently the suggested lesson plans exploit the lyrics of the classical music which develop the linguistics skills and enhance the interest of the children.
Music in the life of preschoolers

Bachelor thesis "Music in preschooler'slife" shows the possible usage of listening to classical music in the preschoolers' lives and its benefits. The theoretical part defines the terms of musical art, it deals with the functions of music and the psychological impact of music on the child and humans in general. It also introduces both the positive and the negative music effects on the child and also mentions the educational importance of music. The practical part of the thesis introduces a project which focuses on listening to classical music and reflects its usage with preschool children. It also touches children's perception and inner understanding of music. Additional research aims to find out about the motivation of parents to the musical education of their children. Home concerts in the 21th century

This bachelor thesis discusses home classical music concerts in the 21st century as a social phenomenon, that is described in this thesis in a broader sense as a economic process and also discribed from a historical and practical perspective. The theoretical part deals with the history of music production and describes the influence of technical reproducibility of the work and the decline of classical music in the 20th century on home concerts. The practical part is focused on a comprehensive evaluation of the project, which launched the initiative Vážný zájem and comparisons of models organizing home concerts of classical music in the 21st century in Germany, USA and the Czech Republic.
Moravian folk songs collected by František Sušil and contemporary pop music

Folk or national song is an important part of history of each country and language as well. Its writing and recording is useful in way of keeping these songs in mind. Because these national parts of tradition should not be forgotten. In comparison to today modern society with the society living during ages when folk songs were forming we can see the difference in their social role and its uniqueness. After introduction its dating and context of collectors of Sušil´s time there will be mentioned musicians who were inspired by his collections. These are mentioned composers from the nineteenth until the twentieth century and their classical music. After that the main focus of the work will be oriented on contemporary music performers and their opinion on their creative approach, promotion and effect of propagation of their genre with folk roots.
Financial impacts of the economic crisis on Czech festivals of classical music

The main objective of this thesis is to map and interpret the financial impacts of the economic crisis on a selected group of classical music cultural events by describing the influence of the possible decline in financial resources on their output and efficiency. The first part of the thesis presents the theoretical basis of culture financing and cultural policy in the Czech Republic and sums up the fundamental economic theories of the behaviour of economy during economic crisis, thus providing a starting point for further interpretation of the performance of these organizations. The second part of this thesis comprises qualitative research of possible variables on a representative sample of classical music festivals. The research is carried out through a content analysis of their annual reports and a secondary analysis of other data provided by relevant institutions. The final section of the thesis attempts to evaluate the impact of the economic crisis on the cultural sector, to confirm or disprove the initial premises and to evaluate generally the financial stability of the Czech classical music festivals.
Marketing of the music festival Dvořák’s Prague

This thesis focuses on marketing activities of the classical music festival Dvořák's Prague. Its goal is to analyze the advertising and other marketing activities of Dvořák's Prague in detail. On these bases recommendations on how to increase the knowledge of the festival will be proposed. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part the thesis focuses on theoretical points related to marketing ín general and to the arts, which are the subject of the festival. Then the concept of the market research is defined, its process and methods. In the second part, theoretical points are applied. After the introduction of the festival itself, the thesis continues with the analysis of particular marketing activities and with the marketing research, which was conducted to discover the public knowledge and awareness of the festival. In the final part the findings from the analyses of marketing activities and results of the marketing research will be used to propose possible improvements in marketing campaign to increase the public awareness of the festival.
